Taikouya

A district where Japan's cultural heritage continues to thrive while welcoming visitors from around the world.
This project is the design of a Japanese sweets shop inspired by the stage of Noh, one of Japan's oldest performing arts.
Each Japanese sweet is imagined as a performer, creating a stage where every piece commands its own presence.
Rather than reproducing traditional Japanese aesthetics, the project reinterprets them through a contemporary architectural language. By reinterpreting the Noh stage through an aluminum frame structure, it explores a new spatial expression using modern materials and composition.
For us, preserving tradition is not about replicating its form, but about translating its essence into the present and continuing to express it as new cultural value.
